Vote NO on Prop 2

Sacramento is selling the “Save for California’s Future Act” as a responsible rainy-day fund measure.

In reality, it’s a way for politicians to keep more of your money and avoid sending tax rebates back to you.

This proposition raises the rainy-day fund cap from 10% to 20% (more money in their hands) and removes deposits from the voter-approved Gann Limit imposed by Prop 4 in 1979.

That change makes it much harder to trigger the requirement that excess tax revenue be returned to taxpayers. Instead of giving surplus money back to Californians, politicians can simply park it in the rainy-day fund and keep control of it for later spending.

After collecting record-high revenues, they now want to change the rules so they don’t have to give any of it back.

This measure would:

• Make it significantly harder for taxpayers to receive rebates when revenues spike

• Let politicians hold onto more surplus revenue instead of returning it

• Raise the rainy-day fund cap so the state can stockpile more of your money

• Gut a key voter-approved spending limit

Vote NO.

Don’t let Sacramento rewrite the rules so they can keep more of your money.
