Despite the name, this $11.25 Billion “Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond” puts investors first.... and taxpayers on the hook. In fact, it puts veterans last.
The propositions commits:
• $7 billion - Multifamily affordable RENTAL units
• $1.15 billion - Homeless Housing
• $1.85 billion - Grants, Housing maintenance, Farmworker and student housing
• Only $1.25 billion for veteran home loans (these are self-supporting and repaid by veterans, not taxpayers)
Taxpayers will repay roughly $17.4 Billion (principal + interest) on the $10B portion alone.
Vote NO on Prop 1 -- Another massive bond that burdens taxpayers while delivering limited direct help to veterans.
