Vote NO on Measure U
Attn: Livingston Residents - Vote NO on Measure U.
Keep Livingston’s City Treasurer elected by the people.
Here's why:
The City Treasurer is the official responsible for custody and management of Livingston’s public funds. That office should answer to voters, not to the same Council and staff who are spending those funds support.
Measure U would make the Treasurer appointive after November 2028, or sooner if the office becomes vacant. The Treasurer would be appointed by the City Council, serve at the Council’s pleasure, and would not have to live in Livingston. The measure also lets the Council later hand that appointment power to the City Manager.
In Livingston, public trust depends on an independent treasurer, not one who serves at the pleasure of the people handling the money.
VOTE NO to be able to elect and recall the City Treasurer.
